The Cuyahoga river, which flows through Cleveland Ohio, caught fire in 1969 because of how polluted it was. This river flowed into Lake Erie, one of the Great Lakes. That's scary, considering that the Great Lakes acts as a drinking water source. Water catching fire? THAT ISN'T RIGHT!
That power plant on the Great Lakes wasn't ever a really good thing for the environment. But now, I just found out how serious it is. The power plant uses water from the lakes in its cooling system. You wouldn't believe how much water they use, but I'll tell you anyway. On the website I was referring to, it said that the plant uses over one billion gallons everyday! The water that exits after being used is often reported 15-20 degrees warmer. The worst part is that everyday, lots of little fish like zooplankton and larval fish are sucked into the plant and KILLED! This is terrible people! Stop this!
